Bio

Drawn to the emotional and spatial dimensions of lived experience, Fernley Ayre's practice engages the subtle connections between permanence and impermanence, structure and fluidity, intimacy and scale. Working through a process that is both intuitive and intentional, she examines how space is inhabited, physically, psychologically, and collectively.

Materiality is central to her approach. Through texture, form, and restraint, Fernley Ayre considers how material presence can evoke memory, atmosphere, and a sense of place.

Her practice is an ongoing inquiry into environment, community and the shifting idea of home. This work invites viewers to move beyond observation, engaging instead with the emotional resonances that unfold through experience.

Journey to Vision

Born on Salt Spring Island and raised in the heart of Douglas Park along Cambie Street corridor; the rhythm of this city, its architecture, neighbourhood and evolving cultural landscape.

While Vancouver remains Fernley Ayre's creative and professional anchor, time spent living abroad cultivated a global awareness that continues to inform her approach. Exposure to diverse design traditions, spatial philosophies, and ways of living sharpened Fernley's appreciation for thoughtful environments.

At her core, she carries the spirited upbringing of an island girl.. grounded, intuitive and effortlessly at home where land meets sea. That guides how she navigate's real estate - with emotional intelligence, and a deep respect for the art of place.

Beyond her professional practice, Fernley is committed to advancing pragmatic and meaningful solutions to the housing crisis. She believe's in responsible growth, inclusive design, and housing that reflects both human needs and environmental realities.

Fernley Ayre also recognizes that art, design and nature are integral to the long-term vitality of our built environments. Supporting artists, collaborating with creative practitioners, and integrating art strengthens both cultural identity and economic resilience. She views art not as ornament, but as infrastructure.. a catalyst for community, value creation, and lasting relevance.
